Our history

Oprichting Patella
Where it all started
Following a successful career at J&J, Jan Naert founded our company Patella NV in September 1988. Patella distributed orthopaedic instruments from its Bruges headquarters to the rest of Belgium.
Logo's dufner en bissinger
Expansion of the product range and fields of use through exclusive partnerships.
In the 1990s, Patella teamed up with many new partners, including:
Dufner instruments (Tuttlingen, Germany)
High-class open and endoscopic surgical instruments
Bissinger Medizintechnik (Teningen, Germany)
High standard electrosurgical instruments
The second generation
20 years after it was founded, the second generation of the family joined the SME in the person of Peter-Jan Naert, who took over the company in 2011. The logo became “Patella Surgical Instruments bv”, and the product range was extended to include Thoracic and Cardiac Surgery.

A righthand for Peter-Jan
Since 2014, Peter-Jan has counted on Evelien Naert-Verrue as his operational right hand for a thorough optimisation and digitalisation of all the growing company’s processes. This highly complementary partnership has grown organically over time so that Evelien now takes care of day-to-day management while Peter-Jan devotes himself to Sales Business Development.
